Aceto-orcein solution (1% concentration): Orcein, sourced from two types of lichens (Rocella tinctoria and Lecanora parella), provides optimal contrast for chromosome analysis in its natural form. A synthetic alternative is also offered, but the original is favored for its superior quality as a chemical used in laboratories.
