Toluene, also called toluol, is a laboratory quality chemical. It is a colorless, water-insoluble liquid with the scent of paint thinners. It is a derivative of mono-substituted benzene, with a CH₃ group attached to a phenyl group. Its IUPAC systematic name is methylbenzene. Formula: C7H8.
