Pyrogallol or benzene-1, 2, 3-triol is a benzenetriol that bears hydroxy groups at positions 1, 2, and 3. It is a potent reducing agent and appears as a white crystalline powder. It was initially synthesized in 1786 by chemist Scheele through the heating of gallic acid. Formula: C6H6O3
